The Story

How Bongani
got here.

Hailing from the sun-scorched sugar fields of Chiredzi, Bongani Makorova's fighting spirit was forged early. His boxing journey began at just nine years old, a Grade 4 pupil who found his calling not just in the ring, but through a unique and solid foundation.

His talent was nurtured through a powerful two-fold system: the community clubs run by Tongaat Hulett and the supportive structure of the school system. It was at the Tongaat community club where his raw ability was meticulously shaped.

Makorova tested his skills in national tournaments and expanded his horizons in regional competitions across Mozambique and Angola. In 2021 he stepped onto the professional stage. Since then he has built a record of 13 officially accounted bouts, securing 8 wins.

His dedication culminated on 30 August 2025, when he claimed the WBF Continental Super Bantamweight title — a testament to his skill and perseverance on boxing's demanding professional path.
