The rhythm of the ring is my birthright. The sound of skipping ropes and the percussive thud of the heavy bag were the soundtrack of my childhood. My father, a boxer and trainer, gave me the tools — the worn leather gloves, the footwork drills on cold dawn floors. But it was my brother, Alie “Otto” Phiri, who gave me the dream.
That path began in earnest at 12. By Grade 6 at Hartcliffe 2 Primary, I had already made my ring debut. I carried that through my years at Parirewa School, building an amateur record that became my unbreakable foundation: 49 fights, 48 wins, only 1 loss.
Turning professional was a natural step. My greatest accomplishment came on December 8, 2023, when I defeated Israel Kamwamba to claim the African Boxing Union Lightweight Championship. On March 22, 2024, I turned back the challenge of Saidi Mukola of Tanzania, proving the reign was no accident.
I carry the Phiri name with every step I take into that ring. I am a champion built on a foundation of lineage, grind, and proven heart. The next chapter, the greatest chapter, is yet to be written.
